What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy?

This week I went on a two day introduction to Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy with Caroline Monthelie, a Swedish expert in the human, equine and canine field.

Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral therapy is a recognised and well established modality developed from osteopathy science. Tensions and blockages in connective tissue, muscles and ligaments are released making it possible for joints and organs to achieve optimum condition. It is an intuitive, patient-led therapy which works more at the level of fascia.

There are certainly a number of similarities between Shiatsu & Craniosacral Therapy. Both use a gentle touch to map the body’s responses to stress and injury, and then support the body in releasing them. We were encouraged to not be in a rush to ‘know’, let go of the need to analyse ! Wait. Be present and patient. Which is pretty hard to do when you’re learning a new skill and want to know EVERYTHING !!

Over the two days we experienced and practiced a variety of techniques including :
* Scapula release & balancing
* Balancing ligament tension
* Occiput release
* Diaphragm release
* Castration scarring release (horses only !!)
* Sacrum release
* Lymphatic system release

All valuable additions to my practice 😊
