Therapeutic Flow Stretch and Zen Shiatsu – The Grounding Reset

Zen Shiatsu is a physical therapy which uses a combination of acupressure points, gentle manipulation and stretching to re-energise weak areas and reduce tension in the body.

By applying sensitive, mindful, static touch with thumbs, fingers and palms, the Shiatsu giver affects the functioning of physical systems such as nervous, circulatory and respiratory, thus supporting the body’s innate self-healing abilities and promoting a sense of relaxation and well-being.

Therapeutic Flow Stretch is a full body treatment that fuses intuitive Shiatsu with assisted stretching and breath-led flow.  This session releases muscular tension, enhances posture, and supports post-exercise recovery – cultivating ease, mobility and mental clarity.

Zen Shiatsu is the name of the style of Shiatsu I practice, developed by Shizuto Masunaga (1925-1981) – he named his style IOKAI (King) Shiatsu. He believed Shiatsu was the King of bodywork, with its deep, comfortable penetration, its balancing and detoxifying effects and its theory, developed alongside that of acupuncture and herbal medicine. The Western publishers of his 1977 book, renamed it Zen.

Zen Shiatsu goes directly to the core of the receiver’s present condition via its subtle diagnostic system. The use of a stationary, “listening” hand guiding the penetrating, working hand makes for great sensitivity and effectiveness.

Any holistic therapy should never be used as a substitution for medical treatment. Your General Practitioner should be consulted first if there is any doubt about your suitability for Shiatsu.

Please provide the practitioner with a complete and accurate health history.

The Practitioner may ask your General Practitioner for a letter if there are any major health concerns, which will confirm their agreement for Shiatsu sessions.
