How Shiatsu Therapy can help lower back pain
Recently a client remarked –
“I came in with lower back pain and you’re doing things with my feet, why is that ? I’ve been to physio’s and chiropractors and no one has touched my feet ! “
(By the way, this client now has a reduction in lower back pain after just two treatments)
So your feet take the weight of your whole body, as well as any movement. To do this they require strength and flexibility. We loose this through daily use, fatigue, exercise, poor foot wear or injury. And this can have an effect on the rest of the body.
So why else do I treat your feet ?
The key to Acupressure and Shiatsu is Fascia. Every nerve, muscle, blood vessel, organ, bone and tendon is covered in it, and it was put in our bodies to enable the body to know where things should be and what they should be doing.
Fascia has no form of its own – it takes the form of whatever it is covering – it binds together tissues. Muscular pain moves along fascia between the muscles, and when the muscles become tight they tangle the facial envelopes. Once this happens it causes the body to readjust along the fascial planes, causing compensatory issues elsewhere in the body.
One fascial plane runs the full length of the body, from the head along the spine down the back of the legs and then the feet. So if you’re lower back is hurting – maybe its your feet ?
